defend the dunes
was set up in 2001 when it became clear that some parts of the Fylde coastal dunes were at risk. Our aims are to protect the dunes and beaches from all possible threats.

Early in 2002 we:

We have established links with many national and local conservation groups who share our aims. (see Our Partners)

"To protect and preserve for the benefit of the public the dunes and foreshore of the West Lancashire coast for the benefit of the public and our heritage and in particular the dunes and foreshore situated within Fylde Borough, Lancashire, by all or any of the following means:

1. Opposing any residential development on or in the proximity of the sand dunes.

2. Opposing the commercial extraction of sand from the beach areas.

3. Encouraging better management and continuous monitoring of the dunes and the foreshore and protecting the same against damage and erosion.

4. Increasing public knowledge of the benefits of improved coastline management in order to protect the ecology of the area."

"The Trust shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion."
